..... ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY

IFCAE was founded in Seattle in 1998 then moved to Portland, OR in 1999 where it remained till the end of 2012.  The mission focus was to conduct collaborative, interdisciplinary research-based initiatives that foster vibrant and resilient livelihoods, communities, and ecosystems.  Many projects were done throughout the Pacific Northwest, U.S. and in many other countries.

Measured by impact and project breadth the organizational model was quite succesful. However, it proved challenging to sustainably fund the organization beyond federal research funds and remain independent. So at the end of 2012 the Board of Directors, staff and advisors decided to move the organization to Little White Salmon Biodiversity Reserve and focus more exclusively on the environmental education and place-based model ecosystem work of the organization.
